Big Problem !!

When doing my plan I didn’t write in the Christmas holidays, as according to my plan I am meant to be doing all of my filming over the holidays, this isn't possible as I am not in England throughout the holidays. I will therefore have to film when I return to school on the 10th January 2011, which doesn’t give me very long to film and edit. However I will try to complete all my tasks set, and this will be a lesson for me to do my plan more carefully and stick to it entirely.

Synoptic Day

Today is synoptic day and I decided that I should complete my poster and magazine today. However I didn’t anticipate how much work the poster and magazine are, because of this I will only be able to complete one aspect. I have decided to get as much work on my magazine done as possible.

Synoptic Day

On the 15th December is our synoptic day, I have decided to get my poster and magazine finished on this day. This means I will not be able to film until sometime next week. I will be using Photoshop to complete both aspects.

OH NO!! SNOW ):

I planned to film this week, but however because of the bad weather we have been having I am not able to film. The snow would make it harder to film, and also if I need to reshoot any shots there would be no continuity, a very important aspect of my trailer. Therefore I will reschedule when the weather gets better.

Sound Research

When looking for music for my teaser trailer I had to look at copyright free websites like :-

While on freeplay music I found some music which I thought would go well with the theme and genre of my movie.

I made a short youtube clip on "Windows Live Movie Maker" with a sample of the music.

Magazine Name Research

Existing Magazines :-

I had to think about if I would use an existing magazine or create my own. I decided I should make my own magazine as using another magazine I would have to mimic the style of the magazine so that to fits with the style of the magazine. Making a new magazine enables me to create a style for my magazine and come up with the

cover construction myself.

I had to think about what to call my magazine and as my film will be independent I should make an independent magazine. All the magazines I have looked at have had really short names and tell you that it is about films in the name. I therefore thought about these ideas:

Movie Weekly

Film Time

Cinema Crazy

Square Eyed

I have decided to call my magazine “Square Eyed” as you could tell that it will be a film magazine and it is a fun name and everyone will remember.

Location Scouting

I thought about the different locations I could use to film my teaser trailer, I visited lots of different places to find out which location would be the best to film my trailer in .


I had to find places that gave off a horror vibe and were secluded.

These were some of the places I looked at:-

Treatment

Joan and her daughter, Megan are involved in a tragic car accident. The car is flipped over into a lake trapping the pair inside. Mum and daughter die. Daughter feels her death was stollen by the press as the acident received a lot of press attention, and she felt that she couldnt “pass over”. After her funeral the spirit of the young girl never leaves and haunts the graveyard.

A group of college photography students take a trip to the hunted graveyard and one by one they start to disappear with something personal from each of them left behind on a gravestone. The students try to escape from the graveyard but only one manages to get out. However her celebration is short lived as during her escape she ends up getting hit by a car herself.

Silence of the Lambs Promotional Tactics

Silence of the Lambs is a horror film released in 1991. I decided to do some promotional research on the film.

It was distributed by Orion Pictures an independent American company, I would like my trailer to be from an independent source as well so doing some research into this film would be beneficial to me.

I looked at the posters released for the film, the magazine cover the film featured on and the official facebook page for the film.
